2010 Technology Impact Award Winners Announced – BC Companies Making Their Mark Globally

Clean Heat from Wood Waste Kruger Products LP needed a cost-effective technology to reduce its reliance on natural gas for creating steam at its paper products plant in New Westminster, BC. Using an advanced biomass gasification system from Nexterra, Kruger converts locally-source wood waste into cleaning burning syngas which is fed directly into its boilers. While reducing costs, Kruger has cut CO2 emissions by 22,000 tonnes per year.
