Singapore (PRWEB) May 11, 2011

Agoda.com, Asias global hotel booking site and part of Nasdaq-listed Priceline.com Inc. (Nasdaq: PCLN), has secured special hotel rates in time for the Taipei International Technology Show 2011, better known as ‘Computex’.

Computex is the largest computer fair in Asia the second-largest in the world after Germany’s CeBIT. Now in its 31st year, the expo takes place from May 31 to June 4 across four different exhibition halls in the Taipei World Trade Center and the Taipei International Convention Center.

Approximately 36,000 buyers are expected to attend the event to see the latest technologies and gadgets on display from hundreds of companies, including major Taiwan-based manufacturers Acer Inc., ASUStek, BenQ Corporation, and Foxconn Technology Group.

Symposiums run for the duration of the expo, with highlighted events including a forum led by Microsoft Corporate VP Steven Guggenheimer and a keynote speech on computer gaming by ASUStek VP Joe Hsieh. Tablet PCs are also set to be a major focus of this year’s Computex, with several companies, such as Lenovo, Samsung, and Fujitsu expected to showcase their new tablet designs.

Outside the exhibition halls, expo attendees can indulge their tech obsession further by browsing the gadgets on sale at the Guang Hua Electronics Market. This six-floor shopping complex on Civic Boulevard houses hundreds of IT stores, offering everything from brand name laptops to audio-visual equipment to computer and gaming peripherals. To bag a bargain, shoppers are encouraged to haggle.

Taipei is a diverse and fascinating city, with a long list of cultural attractions. Shihlin Night Market is a worthwhile diversion that offers the full spectrum of Taiwanese snacks, such as stinky tofu and oyster omelets. The striking National Chiang Kai-Shek Memorial Hall is also a must-see, surrounded by carp-filled ponds and manicured gardens a quiet counterpoint to the bustling expo circuit.
