Behlman’s New Airborne Frequency Converter Used to Convert 3-Phase 400-Hz Power to Single-Phase 115 or 230 VAC, 50 or 60 Hz

Hauppauge, New York (PRWEB) September 10, 2008

Behlman Electronics Inc., known for its leadership in providing power products for industrial, commercial and military applications, has introduced its AFC-7000; a moderately priced, modified COTS frequency converter designed to convert three-phase aircraft power to regulated single-phase (115 or 230 VAC) 50 or 60 Hz ground power. The AFC-7000 is designed to withstand the extreme rigors of aircraft takeoffs and landings, while meeting the input power requirements of MIL-STD-704 and RTCA-DO-160.

The Behlman AFC-7000 is an ultra-rugged 6900 VA Frequency Converter that supplies clean, regulated 115 or 230 VAC from three-phase 400 Hz aircraft power. The input has multi-pulse rectification for low-input current distortion and has Galvanic Isolation. Output is a sine wave and can supply a fixed frequency of either 50 Hz, 60 Hz or 400 Hz, +/- 0.1 percent, regardless of load. The AFC-7000 has a number of outstanding features including multi-pulse input, protective circuits, microprocessor controller with vacuum fluorescent display, RS-232 interface for monitoring and output On/Off plus28 VDC output control.

“Small size, rugged construction, quiet operation and high efficiency make the AFC-7000 ideal for use on aircraft to convert aircraft power to ground power,” explained Behlman Vice President of Sales and Marketing Ron Storm. “Our customers asked for a Frequency Converter that could live up to the rigors of mission-critical life on board military aircraft, while providing clean, regulated AC and Behlman delivered.” “With the addition of our AFC-7000,” continued Storm, “not only can we meet any AC-to-AC signal requirement, but we can also supply frequency conversion onboard military aircraft.”

The AFC-7000-1 or -2 can be rack-mounted in a standard 19″ equipment rack. Introductory price is $ 14,275 with delivery in November 2008.
