Complete Easy to Implement Bluetooth™ Development with XEMICS and IAR Systems

(PRWEB) November 8, 2002

Neuchâtel, Switzerland and Mountain View, CA, 12th November , 2002.

A complete Bluetooth starter kit is now shipping from XEMICS, with an easily programmable demo headset profile example from IAR Systems. XEMICS’ XE1401 IC features fully integrated Bluetooth IP up to the Host Controller Interface (HCI). IAR is providing the upper protocol layer Bluetooth software. This starter kit enables customers to develop complete Bluetooth applications, supported by both XEMICS and IAR Systems, with significantly shorter time to market. In addition IAR Systems is able to offer complete development support up to and including the Bluetooth test and qualification.

A complete Bluetooth headset from the microphone to the speaker, using the XE1401 in combination with the XEMICS’ ultra low power CODEC, XE3005 actually consumes less than [email protected] when using a HV3 data package. The XE1401 consumes around [email protected] during full operation. This is the world’s lowest power Bluetooth baseband solution and allows our customers to achieve talk times far beyond 10h, even when using lowest cost disposable batteries. This Bluetooth headset application example based on XEMICS ultra-low-power EasyBlue™ baseband controller XE1401 and using IAR Systems upper Bluetooth protocol stack was successfully demonstrated at the Bluetooth Congress in Amsterdam, 11th-14th June.

The XEMICS’ XE1401 Single chip Bluetooth baseband add-on solution, requires no external components including eliminating the need for extra memory. It is a fully integrated lower layer Bluetooth protocol, compliant to revision 1.1.

The flexible nature of the XE1401 means that it supports various Bluetooth radio chips, e.g. Sykworks CX72303 (supports Class 1, Class 2 and Class 3 radio modules). In addition the XE1401 is able to support 13 MHz or 16 MHz clock sources. It uses a high speed UART to interface to any host processor.
