Mouser Electronics, Inc. and ZiLOG, Inc. Sign New Global Distribution Agreement

Mansfield, Texas, USA (PRWEB) September 8, 2005

Mouser Electronics, Inc., the fastest growing electronics catalog distributor in the industry, and ZiLOG, Inc. have signed a new agreement expanding Mouser’s role to that of a Globally Franchised Distributor.

ZiLOG is the inventor of the award-winning Z80® and Z8® architectures that are embedded in over one billion end-products worldwide. Focusing primarily in the micro-logic device market segment, ZiLOG products and design tools can be found in a broad base of applications, including consumer appliances, remote controls and vending machines, to telecommunications controllers, home automation, spacecraft instrumentation and industrial automation systems.

Mouser’s inventory of ZiLOG products includes numerous microprocessors, microcontrollers and development tools, including the eZ80Acclaim® and Z8 Encore® XP Flash microcontrollers and development kits, as well as numerous Z80 microprocessor families.

“Mouser has done an outstanding job of developing new relationships for us with design engineers and other product specifiers we were not previously reaching,” said Mike Perlman, ZiLOG’s Vice President of Business Marketing & Worldwide Distribution. “The next logical step is to expand our reach by globally capitalizing on their unique customer base.”

According to Mouser President Glenn Smith, the global expansion with ZiLOG is in keeping with the distributor’s business model of bringing the most innovative products and the latest technologies to its customers. Additionally, Mouser’s customer base of well over 100,000 business accounts is unique and diverse — often including customers other distributors don’t serve.

We’re very excited about expanding globally with ZiLOG,” Smith said. “Our two companies have great synergy. ZiLOG is a real innovator in microcontrollers, and we’re pleased that our performance in quickly introducing their new products to engineers has resulted in this expansion to a global relationship.”

Mouser’s customers are primarily working at the design-in and prototyping stage of the design cycle and are comprised of a wide range of small, medium and large companies, universities and engineering consultants who recommend, specify and purchase board-level components for product designs.
