MTN Awards Glenayre Contracts for South Africa Totaling over US $7 Million

Glenayre Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: GEMS), a global leader in providing next-generation messaging solutions and enhanced services, today announced that MTN has awarded the Company contracts totaling in excess of US $ 7M to provide a next generation messaging solution for its mobile network in South Africa. MTN is Africa’s largest mobile network operator and operates one of the largest GSM networks in the world .

 

Following an extensive evaluation process, MTN South Africa selected Glenayre’s Versera Intelligent Communications Environment (Versera ICE) to provide its subscribers with voice mail and advanced messaging capabilities including Missed Call Notification and My Services, an Internet portal application that that allows subscribers to have full control of their messaging features online. Versera ICE is a next generation messaging solution that enables multiple applications to be deployed on a single platform.

The contracts include approximately $ 5M for equipment that will be deployed in 2005, with the remainder being for a multi-year services and support agreement.
