New POS Hardware Helps Honey Farms to Harvest Improved System Performance

Rochester, NY (PRWEB) August 26, 2011

UTC RETAIL, a leading provider of retail management solutions, including software, hardware and professional services, announced today that Honey Farms has selected the 3100 Series Workstation as their new POS hardware solution.

For the past 6 years, Honey Farms has been using Palm POS software from The Pinnacle Corporation, one of our valued partners, said Victoria Rose, UTC RETAIL Vice President of Sales and Marketing. As Honey Farms has upgraded Palm over the years, the minimum hardware and security requirements started to exceed their existing POS hardwares capabilities. Honey Farms put us through our paces by conducting a full cost and design analysis of several POS hardware platforms, and then picking just two hardware vendors to test in a live store environment for 30 days. We are pleased to have partnered with Honey Farms on this project and proud to be able to add them to our growing list of UTC RETAIL customers.

UTC RETAILs 3100 Series all-in-one touch screen integrated workstation solution provides efficient performance, superior reliability and exceptional value. Based on open architecture and embedded components, the 3100 Series protects a retailers system investment ensuring a long productive life in the most demanding environments. The compact footprint is a perfect fit for space-conscious deployments, including specialty retail, convenience stores and school food service markets.

We looked at several hardware platforms before deciding on the 3100, said Ed Freels, Director of Information Systems for Honey Farms. Our number one criteria was performance. We tested the gear in three of our stores that were having significant service and support issues with our existing POS hardware. We were very pleased with the results of the 3100. Also, we spoke with dozens of other retailers to get their feedback on the platforms we were considering. Absolutely no one that had deployed UTC had any regrets.

Founded in 1969, Honey Farms is a privately-held, retail convenience store chain with 35 locations in Massachusetts. The holder of many industry awards, Honey Farms has a proud reputation as an innovator in the convenience store industry.
