Norcent Technology Donates Products to Aid Discovery Science Center’s New Digital Lab

San Dimas, CA (PRWEB) November 11, 2004 – Norcent Technology, Inc., a marketer of high-

quality home entertainment products has donated four 42” plasma displays to the new Digital Lab interactive classroom at the Discovery Science Center in Santa Ana, California. The units are used as teaching tools, monitors, and for showing closed circuit television signals.

“We are pleased to be able to help the Discovery Science Center,“ remarked Jennifer Long, CEO of Norcent the Americas. “The new Digital Lab will benefit individuals, who might otherwise not have the opportunity, to develop their computer skills in an interactive, well equipped and positive environment. We are honored to be associated with the Discovery Science Center. It has long been known for its exciting, hands-on, science-related exhibits, activities, and events. It has a well-deserved reputation for making science an entertaining and enjoyable learning experience for people of all ages.“

Located in the heart of Orange County, California, not far from Norcent’s American headquarters, the Discovery Science Center features more than 120 hands-on science exhibits in themed areas, including Discovery Stadium, Techno Arts, Air & Space, Perception, Dynamic Earth, Quake Zone, KidStation, and the new Digital Lab.

The space-saving Norcent 42” plasma display (item #PT4231) is equipped with a built-in digital video interface (DVI), allowing direct digital-to-digital video connectivity with PCs or other input sources equipped with a DVI video display adapter. It features 852×480 resolution (WVGA), a high contrast ratio of 1000:1, an enlargeable and moveable picture-in-picture function, built-in stereo speakers, and a 16:9 wide-screen aspect ratio.

It allows viewing from anywhere within a 160° angle, making it well-suited for the classroom setting. It accepts composite video, component video, DTV component video, and S-video signals. It is also compatible with VGA, SVGA, WVGA, XGA, SXGA, and text mode systems. Special color rendering technology provides the most realistic rendering available. Less than 4” deep, this Norcent plasma display can be used virtually anywhere.

The Discovery Science Center is using the donated units in various locations throughout the facility. Uses include video support inside the Digital Lab classroom, where they will be used as teaching tools, and on the walls outside the classroom, so the public can view activities taking place within the lab.

The Digital Lab offers programs such as computer applications, introduction to the Internet, basic and advanced Web design, and basic and advanced digital imaging.
