OTI Makes Power System Analysis Faster and Easier With Release of ETAP 5.5

Irvine, CA (PRWEB) June 29, 2006

Operation Technology, Inc. (OTI) has announced the availability of ETAP 5.5, a major release of its power system enterprise solution that allows users to simulate, plan, design, optimize, monitor, and operate electric power systems. This major update delivers dozens of new enhancements that make power system analysis significantly faster and easier.

One of the most significant new features of ETAP 5.5 is the ability to graphically animate power system response directly on the one-line diagram. This unique feature makes it easier for ETAP users to assess the impact various conditions would have on their power systems, allowing them to make better informed decisions. The graphical animation feature has been added to three major ETAP functions: protective device operation, control system operation, and dynamic behavior operation.

In addition to the core ETAP power analysis and simulation capabilities OTI customers are using today, key elements of the new release include:

New Features ETAP 5.5 includes such new features as Configuration Manager, ETAP Preferences, License Administrator, and Theme Manager, which provide ETAP users with more flexible configuration options and greater display capabilities.

New Capabilities Some of the many new capabilities in ETAP 5.5 include cable sizing based on short-circuit, get-set property defaults, output report navigation, sag and tension for unequal towers, and more.

New Elements The Doubly-Fed Induction Generator and Tag-Link elements have been added in this release.

Enhanced Modules More than 15 ETAP products and modules have been significantly enhanced, including Advanced Relay Testing & Transient Simulator, Arc Flash Analysis, Battery Discharge & Sizing, Ground Grid Systems, Harmonic Analysis, and Intelligent Load Shedding.

According to OTI President and CEO Farrokh Shokooh, the OTI product development team takes pride in the ongoing dialogue with ETAP users worldwide. “The enhanced functionality and new features in ETAP 5.5 is a direct result of ideas and requests we have received from our valued clients,” said Shokooh. “Thanks to their valuable feedback, we are confident that our new release is the fastest, easiest-to-use power system analysis solution on the market.”

ETAP customers with active maintenance coverage will receive the new release free of charge. For details on ETAP 5.5, visit etap.com.
