Sensory Partners with MikroElektronika to Provide New Low Cost Speech Tools

Sunnyvale, Calif. (PRWEB) April 18, 2006

Sensory, Inc., the world leader in embedded speech technologies, today announced the details of their partnership with mikroElektronika (http://www.mikroelektronika.co.yu) to provide low-cost development tools for Sensorys VR Stamp platform. Hardware developers now have additional options for creating products that feature speech recognition and other audio technologies using Sensorys ultra-compact VR Stamp (Voice Recognition) module. The heart of the VR Stamp is the RSC-4128 integrated circuit, the latest member of Sensorys award winning RSC Family of mixed signal processors that provide speech recognition, synthesis and system control on a single chip.

New Tools Lower Development Costs Dramatically

Programming for bulk quantities of the RSC-4x chip is normally done using sophisticated tools including a powerful IDE and In-Circuit-Emulator. With the VR Stamp, consumer electronics developers can now also incorporate basic speech technologies into their products without going the fab route by integrating Sensorys low cost, 40-pin DIP footprint module into their PCB design instead. For these applications, simpler tools and inexpensive programming environments offer a logical solution for rapid development and quick time to market for smaller scale projects.

Sensorys partnership with mikroElektronika now offers dramatically lower-cost development tools for programming the VR Stamp module. mikroElektronika has provided a free unlimited-life C Compiler for programming the first 64kbytes available on the VR Stamp, and offers an upgrade to 1Mbyte address space for only $ 99. Customers can purchase either Sensorys VR Stamp Toolkit, available online at http://www.digi-key.com and http://www.semiconductorstore.com, or they can now also buy mikroElektronikas Easy VR Stamp Development system (http://www.mikroelektronika.co.yu/english/product/tools/easyvrstamp.htm) for the ultimate low cost development environment.

Both kits support Sensorys FluentChip firmware, which provides high-accuracy speech recognition, speaker verification, speech compression and output, music synthesis, as well as diagnostic and utility programs. QuickT2SI-Lite, a special edition of Sensorys highly-acclaimed Quick T2SI tool that allows speaker-independent vocabulary set development using text input is also included. International languages are supported by the Quick T2SI-Lite tool, making multi-lingual manufactured goods accessible around the world.

Complete Speech Recognition System on Board

The VR Stamp module includes a fully functional system based on Sensorys RSC-4128 mixed signal processor, a powerful 8-bit microcontroller inside a voice recognition system on chip (including 16-bit ADC, DAC, digital filtering, RAM, ROM, output amplification, timers, comparators and more). In addition, flash memory, serial EEPROM, main clock and real time clock crystals, along with power noise management components, are all densely packed into its standard 40-pin DIP footprint. The VR Stamp can act as a speech recognition slave, or be the primary host controller of the end product along with providing the speech recognition features. The VR Stamp modules sell for under $ 30 in volume, and can handle multi-level menus of speech recognition command sets and speech synthesis prompts.

About mikroElektronika

mikroElektronika was established in 1997 as a publishing firm, and has greatly expanded in both domain and influence. Our major fields of interest include hardware development systems for popular microcontrollers, including C, BASIC and Pascal compilers for popular PIC microcontrollers, as well as Pascal for dsPIC. We also publish magazines like ‘mikroElektronika’, which introduces and discusses the latest digital and analog hardware, with emphasis on the microcontrollers from Motorola, Atmel, Intel, PIC, industry computer Simatic S7, Omron, Koyo, etc. It also presents new control techniques, such as fuzzy logic, neural networks, and adaptive controls. We also publish books, with titles like ‘PIC microcontrollers’, ‘Introduction to industrial PLC controllers’, ‘Radio Receivers’, and ‘Components of Electronic Devices’ currently in print. mikroElektronika also makes acceleration sensors and data acquisition hardware and software for many test and measurement applications. mikroElektronika is an official consultant on PIC microcontrollers and third party partner of Microchip company, and has been an official consultant and third party partner of Cypress Semiconductors since 2002.
