London, October 25 2001 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe’s new MB90F443G microcontroller, which integrates three CAN interfaces, is the latest member of Fujitsu’s 16-bit CAN controller family with on-chip Flash memory, designed at the company’s European Microcontroller Design Centre.

The CAN interface of the MB90F443G conforms to CAN specification version 2.0 Part A and B and supports, automatic re-transmission in case of error, automatic transmission responding to remote frame and 16 prioritised message buffers for data and ID’s. It also supports multiple messages, flexible configuration of acceptance filtering: full bit compare/full bit mask/two partial bit masks and up to 1Mbps throughput.

Pin-to-pin compatible to seven other Fujitsu 16-bit CAN products, the MB90F443G, in common with other family members, incorporates an external bus interface, 10-bit A/D converter, double UART, Serial I/O, 4-channel programmable pulse generator, 8-channel input capture unit, 4-channel output compare unit and 2-channel 16-bit reload timer. It integrates 1Mbit of on-board Flash memory.

All Fujitsu Flash MCUs also feature automatic program algorithm (Embedded AlgorithmTM), erase pause/restart functions, completion detection of writing/erasing using data polling or toggle bit functions, completion detection of writing/erasing using CPU interrupts and sector erase function for any combination of sectors.

Fujitsu’s Flash microcontrollers have an internal charge pump, obviating the need for external programming voltage facilities. The on-chip Flash security controller prevents the contents of the Flash memory from being read from external pins. The Flash provides a minimum of 10,000 write/erase operations.

The new 100-pin triple CAN device will take its place alongside the current family members which have a proven track record in automotive applications ranging from car entertainment systems, CAN processing and vehicle body control modules. Fujitsu currently has projects under development at seven different car manufacturers in Europe using these families of devices.
