PCBWeb – Free Online PCB Design Software

Summary of PCBWeb – Free Online PCB Design Software

The article introduces PCBWeb, a free, browser-based PCB design and manufacturing CAD tool currently in BETA. It supports schematic capture with multi-sheet capabilities, custom ports, and access to a large Digi-Key part library. For PCB layout, it offers multi-layer board design, unit flexibility, copper pours, design rule checking, and Gerber export for manufacturing. The application runs on Windows and Mac via Silverlight.

Parts used in the PCBWeb Project:

  • Multi-sheet schematics
  • Custom Ports
  • Digi-Key Part Library (100,000+ components with symbols and footprints)
  • Multi-layer board support
  • Copper pour
  • Design Rule Checking (DRC)
  • Gerber Export
  • Cut/Copy/Paste and full undo/redo functionality

A new PCB design web application was released this last week called PCBWeb. The website states that PCBWeb is a free browser-based CAD application for designing and manufacturing electronics hardware.  The tool is currently released in BETA and allows you to create a schematic, full circuit board layout, and then export to gerber format for manufacturing. The application is supported on Windows and Mac using Silverlight.
