New Dual-Operation Flash memory from Fujitsu suits

(PRWEB) August 24, 2000

The latest Flash memories from Fujitsu, the 32Mbit dual-operation MBM29DS323XX series offer simultaneous read, write and erase functions and a 64Kbyte hi-ROM (Hidden Read Only Memory) for storing an ESN (Electronic Serial Number) enabling the prevention of illegal copying of the memory contents.

Ideal for use in a wide range of cellular phones and mobile information systems, the devices operate from a single 1.8 volt supply and provide low power consumption via an automatic sleep mode function which offers a stand-by current of just 1 microamp.

In order to satisfy the high-speed processing required by mobile information terminals, the new Flash memories deliver a fast address access time of 100ns. For faster factory programming, an accelerator function is implemented, reducing word programming time from 13ìs to 7ìs.

Two versions are available, the MBM29DS323TE with top address boot block and the MBM29DS323BE offering bottom address boot block architecture. The devices incorporate two sector banks of 8Mbit (Bank 1) and 24Mbit

(Bank 2). Both devices conform to the Common Flash Memory Interface (CFI) Standards.

Supplied in standard 48-pin plastic TSOP and 63 ball, (48 signal balls) FBGA package options, the devices are now available in sample quantities, with volume production commencing at the beginning of Q4CY00.
