Bodega Bay Seafood and Wine Festival Organizers Celebrate 10 Years of Success

(PRWEB) July 17, 2004

This year marks the 10th anniversary of this wonderful festival, and no one could be more pleased than festival organizers, Michael Ecton and Janet Ciel of Sebastopol.

The festival, held Aug. 28-29 at Chanslor Ranch on Hwy. 1 north of Bodega Bay,draws thousands of visitors each year to sample some of the coast’s finest seafood, delicacies from other areas in the state, regionally produced beer and wines, and a wide range of art and entertainment for all ages.

It was established in 1994 after Ecton and Ciel, who are both artists, went to Florida to participate in numerous festivals, some of which celebrated East Coast seafood.

According to Ecton, “We thought that it was odd that there wasn’t a real seafood festival anywhere in the bay area, so we decided to create one.” What better place, he noted, than the Sonoma County coast.

The idea of creating festivals was not a new concept for either Ecton or Ciel. They had already organized the Festival of Art & Wine in Duncans Mills, which has just completed its 20th year, and their combined knowledge of festivals came from years of being on the art fair circuit themselves.

Ecton has been a photographer for over 25 years, and Ciel has worked in a variety of different

mediums, including dried flowers, and leather, and has for the last 11 years been making art-to-wear clothing.

“Because we strive to present the best quality of art work, we accept only hand-made work developed by the applying artist,” said Ciel. She also noted that they look maintain “a high-end to medium price range selection so that everyone can find something they can afford, and treasure.”

Their talent and experience has paid off. Wanting to keep this festival with ocean view a success, they are working on expanding the festival in future years.

“We want this to remain one of the most unique and enjoyable festivals anywhere,” said Ciel.
