AVR Enterprises Awarded ECS III Contract

HERNDON, Va—December 18, 2002–AVR Enterprises, Inc. (AVR) has been awarded a contract by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to supply desktop and laptop computers, peripherals, networking equipment, software, and maintenance and support services to Centers and Institutes of NIH and to other Federal agencies. AVR is one of multiple prime contractors awarded the Electronic Commodity Store (ECS) III contract by the NIH Information Technology Acquisition and Assessment Center (NITAAC).

ECS III is an online quoting system. An eligible user submits a detailed Request for Quotation (RFQ) to vendors, who respond with online quotes. The electronic RFQ process is convenient and easy to use. ECS III is a successor to NIH’s successful ECS II contract. ECS III is expected to be worth $ 6 billion over the next 10 years.

Atul Kumar, President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of AVR, attributes the contract award to AVR’s history as an information technology (IT) solutions provider. “AVR has a solid track record with our clients within the Federal government. We have proven our ability to procure and deliver quality hardware, software, and peripherals and to support those products with a wide variety of services. We are pleased that NIH recognizes this by awarding us an ECS III contract.”
