Behlman Expands its Railroad Signal Source Frequency Converter Line With the Highly-reliable, Low-cost RR5100 Series

Hauppauge, New York (PRWEB) May 8, 2006

Behlman Electronics Inc., known for its leadership in providing power products for railroad, industrial, commercial and military applications, has introduced the Behlman RR5100 series of single-phase output frequency converters for economical, ultra-reliable railroad signal source performance. The RR5100 series is the latest in Behlmans line of railroad signal sources, which have proven to be ultra-reliable under the rigors of even the harshest environments in the railroad industry.

Behlman RR5100 units can be supplied with any single- or three-phase input, and outputs a clean, regulated AC signal at a precise fixed frequency from 25 Hz to 250 Hz (signal output voltage is factory set with a field adjustment of +/- 10 percent). They incorporate special soft-start circuitry to reduce startup surges, and feature input and output isolation transformers with surge arrestors.

All RR5100 series signal sources/frequency converters feature rugged construction with conformal coated boards, in a high-strength rack cabinet (with casters) measuring 30H x 31.6D x 22.1W.

High reliability under extreme operating conditions is an absolute must in the railroad industry, explained Behlman Vice President of Sales and Marketing Ron Storm. As with all Behlman signal sources/frequency converters, the RR5100 is designed to be the last piece of equipment our customers ever need to worry about.

Additional Behlman RR5100 features include an input electronic circuit breaker, thermal protection, external sync, a constant current mode that automatically causes voltage foldback to provide maximum current without distorting the output waveform, and short circuit protection with auto-reset. All units feature removable, washable air filters, form C alarm contacts, bi-color LED indicators, AAR terminals for input and output, and three DMMs for readout of volts, current and frequency. Price is approximately $ 16,785 and delivery is 90 to120 days.

Behlman railroad signal sources/frequency converters are in use on many rail systems including AMTRAK, Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART), Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), METRA, New York City Transit, Port Authority Trans-Hudson (PATH), and Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA).

Behlman Electronics Inc., a subsidiary of Orbit International Corp., manufactures and sells high quality standard, modified standard, custom and COTS power solutions, including AC power supplies, frequency converters, inverters, DC-DC, AC-DC, DC-AC, and uninterruptible power supplies.

Orbit International Corp., (NASDAQ:ORBT), based in Hauppauge, New York, is involved in the manufacture of customized electronic components and subsystems for military and nonmilitary government applications.
