David Weiner Says Retailers Need to Be Ready for Near Field Communication (NFC) to Ensure Walletless Checkout

New York City, NY (PRWEB) January 10, 2012

In a post on retail thought leadership site WhatsNextRetail.com, Cole Systems Chief Executive Officer David Weiner said that as more customers demand to pay for goods with their mobile phones, retailers need to have systems in place to support Near Field Communication (NFC), the underlying technology that makes this happen.

Weiner said mobile phones embedded with the emerging NFC technology can transmit data from a phone to a device which accepts payment. Over the past six months, half a dozen different major payment-related companies have devised a smartphone application to enable NFC payments at the register.

Weiner said, With the right NFC enabled phone, consumers can simply bump (tap) their phone next to a payment-accepting pin-pad to complete their transaction. Since most consumers already have their phone in hand, checking out becomes quicker, while linking purchase activity into other mobile applications such as social media. Consumers get the benefit of saving time while having all of their charges consolidated via an online account.

Weiner said that Cole Systems will be discussing how Microsoft Dynamics AX for Retail supports NFC at Booth #259 at the upcoming NRF Convention and Expo in New York City on January 16-17.
