(PRWEB) September 13, 2000

Frankfurt, Germany and Modi’in, Israel, September 4, 2000 – Fujitsu Microelectronics Europe GmbH, a world leading semiconductor supplier and Redux Communications, an innovative technology start-up, announced today their intention to co-operate in providing low cost, high performance chip sets for delivery of IP services over DSL links. This co-operation will initially cover reference designs and joint promotion of a DSL-based IP service/multimedia access solution based on the Redux AccessGate™, the Fujitsu KeyWave™ and Fujitsu devices for the residential market to be announced later this year. The combination of Fujitsu’s products with those of Redux will allow next generation ISPs to more accurately control the delivery of their services into the subscriber premises.

“It is clear that the next logical step after deploying high speed access to the home and small office is the creation of high-margin IP based services over those links”, states Mark Lonsborough, who in his capacity as Manager Network Products Division at Fujitsu Microelectronics’ Advanced Communications Group works closely with tomorrow’s service providers. Mark adds, “Redux’s technology neatly complements Fujitsu’s DSL solution and allows us to offer a one-stop shop solution for service providers to easily provision and maintain any type of IP service for millions of subscribers”.

“Redux is aiming beyond the current issues of installing large numbers of DSL links and the integration of ATM into the Last Mile”, explains Noam Levine, CEO and co-founder of Redux. “The world of applications has already converged on IP”, he says.

“Once the mass deployment of broadband access becomes an established fact, the need to provide end-users with the ability to plug into personalised and highly differentiated services will be critical for service providers to survive and succeed”. Levine concludes, “The combination of Redux and Fujitsu chip products will enable the creation of powerful, and affordable IP service access devices in the home and office, which in turn will revolutionize the way the public views the ‘Net’.

By announcing this partnership with Redux, Fujitsu has taken the lead among DSL chipset vendors with the integration of wire-speed IP processing technology into their solution. The combination of the leading KeyWave and AccessGate products will give Fujitsu customers a flexible and low cost solution for both enhanced IP services and MPEG multimedia applications.
