IEEE Southeastcon 2010 brings Energy, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science professionals, faculty and students to share the latest information through technical sessions, tutorials, professional development sessions, and exhibits. It is the most influential conference in Region 3 for promoting awareness of the technical contributions made by our profession to the advancement of engineering science and to the community. This conference attracts 400 – 500 students and 300 – 400 IEEE professionals each year. There is over 40,000 sq. feet of convention space and there will be ample room for all of the planned activities.
TUTORIALS: Dozens of 1, 2 and 4 hour tutorials covering topics ranging from Nuclear Energy, Smart Grid, Solid State Lighting, to Real Time Operating Systems and Project Management Fundamentals and much more. Many are available for P.E.s to earn their Professional Development Hours (PDHs).
TECHNICAL PAPERS: Over 120 Technical Papers topics include Power, Energy, Communications, Computing, Circuits, and Education. Truly, few conferences offer such professional synergy and interdisciplinary breadth.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT SEMINAR: Managing Your Career in Challenging Times Topics include: Networking for Success, Negotiating for a Better Job, Health Care Informatics, Managing Your Career and much more.
STUDENT PROGRAMS: Students from over 40 Universities and Colleges will be competing in contests for cash prizes. The Contests include: Technical Papers, Software, Hardware (Robotics), Website Design, Ethics, and T-Shirt Design. Students will have the opportunity to attend a Professional Development Seminar and a student career fair.
AREA BUSINESS PARTICIPATION: Numerous area businesses, both large and small, will be present to exhibit their latest and greatest technology. Sponsoring companies / organizations include Duke Energy, AREVA, Westinghouse, SCANA, Fluor Power, EPRI, Pike Electric, UNCC EPIC, IEEE Power & Energy Society, Microsoft and Dell.
