Novi, MI (PRWEB) June 08, 2011
Luxoft, a leading global provider of advanced application and product development services, and EB, Elektrobit Corporation (NASDAQ-OMX: EBC1V), a developer of cutting-edge embedded technology solutions for automotive and wireless industries, today announced a jointly developed reference platform for in-car media server. The wallet-sized device, designed by EB, allows the car users to download, share and enjoy digital content on the go. Boasting impressive functionality, including 2G/3G connectivity and GPS, the device also operates as a DLNA server, Wi-Fi hotspot, and both Ethernet and USB host. Additionally, it can be used as a mobile TV receiver. Luxofts client software ensures seamless interactivity with the vehicles head unit, rear seat entertainment systems and Android-, Apple- or Linux-based devices, such as iPads, tablet PCs and more.
Powered by a cars 12V socket, the new media server presents a single solution for all in-vehicle media requirements. Passengers can listen to music, watch videos, while DLNA server makes it easy to play and share digital music, videos and photographs using built-in entertainment system or external devices. All digital content syncs seamlessly with external media storage via USB or Wi-Fi. As an Internet hotspot, the device allows the car drivers and passengers the ability to surf the Web, access email and use cloud-based content and services. It also doubles as a mobile TV receiver, supporting DVB-T, DVB-H or other mobile TV standards through the use of an external antenna.
“EB has a strong background in both wireless and automotive segments, and working together with Luxoft supports our intention to expand our offering and market reach. With the introduction of In-Car Media Server and Internet Hotspot we deliver on our promise of taking advanced technologies and turning them into enriching end-user experiences”, said Jani Lyrintzis, Vice President, Wireless Solutions, EB.
The market for in-vehicle infotainment systems is experiencing a phenomenal growth, said Michael Minkevich, VP Technology Services, Luxoft. The multitude of devices, applications and standards, however, presents a challenge to users. How do you make all those disparate devices work together and speak the same language? EBs small-form-factor device solves this problem elegantly, by providing hardware for all in-car infotainment needs and using Luxoft software to ensure interoperability with the car systems and external gadgets. Luxoft is proud to team up with the leaders in automotive embedded systems, and we plan to continue joint R&D and marketing efforts with EB in the future. In combination with Luxofts unparalleled expertise in automotive software, it is a clear win-win strategy.
The first R&D prototypes based on the new media server reference platform will be demonstrated at Luxofts exhibition stand #23 at the Telematics Detroit 2011 show in Novi, MI on June 8-9, 2011.
