Software Technologies Group, Inc. and Intec Automation, Inc. today announced a partnership that will enable delivery of complete 802.15.4 and ZigBee networking solutions for wireless product developers on Intec hardware platforms.
The agreement calls for Software Technologies Group (STG) to port its 802.15.4 MAC software and ZigBee protocol stack to Intec designed hardware. Intec will act as a reseller and distributor of the software. STG will also use Intec hardware featuring Freescale Coldfire processors as a reference platform for advanced ZigBee products such as network gateways and bridges.
Intecs hardware makes an excellent platform for the STG 802.15.4 and ZigBee software, said Chris Herzog, President of STG. Intecs hardware is the ideal platform for sophisticated ZigBee devices such as gateways and bridges as well as higher end embedded applications requiring 802.15.4 and ZigBee connectivity; together with STGs software, we can provide complete solutions for our mutual customers.
It is all about software, states Bob Furber, CEO of Intec Automation Inc. SBCs with the best RF transceivers are useless without software. This is where STG come in. Their software allows us to offer our clients full featured low cost 802.15.4 and ZigBee solutions. But, more importantly, we can offer our clients fully integrated development kits for a very convenient and affordable ticket to the 802.15.4 and ZigBee arena, an arena until now reserved for a handful of large players.
The STG MAC software can be used by itself to create an 802.15.4-based product, or in conjunction with STGs ZigBee protocol stack software. The available ZigBee protocol stack will be fully compliant with the ZigBee standard published by the ZigBee Alliance, an association of companies working together to enable reliable, cost-effective, low-power, wirelessly networked, monitoring and control products based on an open global standard.
Financial terms of the partnership were not disclosed. Hardware products are available now from Intec. 802.15.4 and ZigBee software to be available first quarter 2006. Pricing is to be determined.
