Vector Software, the leading provider of dynamic software testing solutions for safety-critical embedded applications, has integrated its VectorCAST embedded testing platform with the RL78/L12 Group of next-generation ultimate-low-power microcontrollers (MCUs) from Renesas Electronics Corporation.
The 16-bit RL78 MCUs combine advanced features from both the Renesas Electronics 78K and R8C families to deliver low power consumption and high performance. The RL78 family of MCUs are designed for products equipped with small LCD panels, including medical devices, automotive systems, and industrial applications that require improved user interfaces and ultimate low power.
The integrated solution brings compliance to safety standards such as ISO 26262, FDA/IEC 62304, and IEC 61508 to Renesas Electronics Corporations RL78 microcontroller family.
With embedded systems becoming increasingly critical, in automotive, medical, and industrial applications, the need for comprehensive software testing is imperative, said Bill McCaffrey, Chief Operating Officer of Vector Software. This latest integration will assist developers in maintaining superior code quality while achieving certification and compliance.
