Viewers Get an Inside Look at the State-of-the-Art Emerson Network Power Surge Protection Test Lab With New Video

Binghamton, NY (PRWEB) April 4, 2011

Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson, and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity is giving customers an inside look at its recently opened, state-of-the-art test lab in Binghamton, New York with a new video. Called Testing The Limits, this video provides viewers with a glimpse inside the lab and describes its best-in-class capabilities.

Emerson Network Power opened its best-in-class test lab in Binghamton, New York in 2010. Now the company is providing a glimpse of its testing capabilities in a short, four-minute video that introduces the facility.

This lab is one of only a few in the world capable of producing up to 250,000 amps of surge, with impulse durations of 20 to 350 microseconds. Thats meant to simulate a high-energy power surge could be similar to a surge generated from a lightning strike.

While more and more homeowners are recognizing the importance of surge protection for computers, stereos, and televisions, many of todays companies have yet to realize that they need surge protection to safeguard their expensive industrial electronics, equipment, and facilities. And companies need protection from more than just lightning strikes line noise and transients generated within a facility can dramatically affect the performance of sensitive equipment over time.

This helpful video showcases the bottom-line benefits of this lab: Emersons ability to significantly enhance product performance and safety for surge protection devices that the company manufactures. The lab tests for both domestic and international standards, so customers can be sure that their devices meet (or exceed) all of the strictest regulations.

The Emerson Network Power lab features that are highlighted in this video include:

Simulating product performance over the operational life of a surge protection device using multiple temporary over-voltage and environmental test chambers
Comprehensive evaluation of the long-term impact of internally generated high-voltage spikes and low-voltage noise for even more efficient suppression capabilities
Testing for extreme conditions in the highly accelerated life test chambers measuring from -50 to over 120 degrees Fahrenheit
Standard impulse UL testing for lower levels (VPR) and duty cycles
R&D rooms for software, electrical, mechanical and product development
Multi-stroke lightning generator
High-energy lightning simulation (HELS)
500 and 1000 amp temporary over-voltage UL testing
2.5A, 5A, 10A and 100A temporary UL over-voltage testing
