Alfamation Announces PXI-based Products for HD and 3D TV LVDS Applications

Austin, TX (PRWEB) August 3, 2010

Alfamation today released two new PXI-based modules for high speed video test applications the FlexMedia VA-01 High-Definition LVDS Video Analyzer and VG 01 HD Video Generator. Based on the NI FlexRIO product family from National Instruments, which provides flexible, customizable I/O for NI LabVIEW FPGA, the new FlexMedia V Series modules offer a high-performance, high-throughput approach for increasingly complex video test applications.

With the evolution of flat screen display technology to high-definition and 3D TV, engineers face the increasing challenge of rapidly and accurately testing complex devices with high-resolution, deep colors, and higher frame rates, said Mauro Arigossi, President of Alfamation. The FlexMedia V-Series video test modules can perform tests at rates above 20 Gb/s on 3D and high-definition TVs and computer monitor mainboards, allowing electronics manufacturers to drastically reduce their test time while continuing to deliver a high quality end product.

The FlexMedia VA-01Video Analyzer features high-speed LVDS acquisition for Full HD video pixel error analysis. It can test up to eight HDTVs simultaneously with a 1080p@240Hz single source test, including the latest 4Kx2K superwide displays. The VA-01 is based on NI FlexRIO FPGA modules that feature PXI and PXI Express devices with Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGAs, onboard DRAM, high-performance NI application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), and an interface to NI FlexRIO adapter modules that provide I/O to the FPGA.

The new FlexMedia VA-01 addresses a critical need for video display test by helping customers integrate real-time video processing into high volume production without the need for custom, home-grown solutions,” said Michael Schneider, Market Development Manager at National Instruments. “The VA-01 is a great example of how Alfamation uses the high-throughput capabilities of PXI Express and the high-end processing power of NI FlexRIO to deliver cost effective solutions for automated video testing.”

In addition to realtime, multiple UUT parallel processing capabilities, the VA-01 modules compact and robust single-slot PXI design saves cost and fixture space. The FlexMedia VA-01 test instrument also features:

-HDTV image capture and real-time compare

-Real-time bit error test and pixel error test over noisy video

-Up to 1080p at 240Hz or 4Kx2K @60Hz

-Up to 30-bit color depth

-Up to 8 LVDS channels

-NI LabVIEW libraries for easy software integration

Working in tandem with the VA-01 HD video analyzer is the VG-01 HD video generator, which offers high quality video generation over composite, components, and digital interfaces, featuring:

-Up to 1080p@30Hz/48bit color ,1080p@60Hz /36 bit color

-3D , HEC and ARC support

-CEC,DDC & Content Type bits transmission

-Encoded,unencoded and PCM audio support

-YPbPr,RGB,RGBS,YC,CVBS analog video outputs

-PAL/NTSC and HDTV up to 1080p@60Hz

-Six channels video matrix

-Up to UXGA @75Hz support with EDID

-30 bit RGB color depth

The combination of the VA-01 and VG-01 modules provide a comprehensive, high performance, low footprint solution for high definition and 3D screens. For more information on the FlexMedia V-Series, readers can visit http://www.alfamationglobal.com.
