FabISP, a fab-able in-system programmer using ATtiny44
Posted on: 20 Mar 2013
The FabISP is an in-system programmer for AVR microcontrollers, designed for production within a FabLab. That is, it allows you to program the microcontrollers on other boards you make, using nothing but a USB cable and 6-pin IDC to 6-pin IDC cable. It’s based on the USBtiny and V-USB firmwares, which allow the ATtiny44 to […]
element14 offers sneak preview of next-gen BeagleBone
Posted on: 19 Mar 2013
element14 is proud to offer an advanced “first look” at the next-generation BeagleBone – one of the most popular open source hardware platforms developed. The new BeagleBone boasts even more memory and higher performance than previous generations. Availability is slated for the April timeframe, but students and hobbyists can register thier interest in receiving a […]
How HDMI Works
Posted on: 19 Mar 2013
HDMI Signals One of the common misperceptions about HDMI is that the digital signal is innately superior to an analog signal. In some people’s minds, the lack of analog-to-digital conversion means that the signal is in a pure, undamaged state when it reaches the HDTV set. It’s easy to imagine a high-definition, digital signal traveling […]
New full HD CMOS image sensor delivers high-resolution imagery to surveillance and automotive…
Posted on: 18 Mar 2013
Toshiba America Electronic Components, today announces its newest device for the security/surveillance and automotive markets, a full HD (1080p) CMOS image sensor with industry-leading 100dB high dynamic range (HDR) , fast frame rate of 60 frames per second (fps) and also featuring better color reproduction in low-light conditions with color noise reduction (CNR) technology. The TCM5117PL is a CIS-type 1/3 inch optical format image sensor providing high-resolution picture quality in low-to-bright light conditions making it ideal for implementation in security/surveillance cameras and automotive systems.
Convert any input voltage from 2.8V to 80V into a fixed output voltage or output current
Posted on: 18 Mar 2013
Linear Technology Corporation announced the LT8705, a very high efficiency (up to 98%) synchronous buck-boost DC/DC controller that operates from input voltages above, below or equal to the regulated output voltage. This device has four feedback loops to regulate the input current/voltage, along with the output current/voltage. The input current and voltage feedback loops can […]
AT89LP2052 / AT89LP4052 Parallel Port Programmer
Posted on: 18 Mar 2013
Programming the AT89 LP2052/LP4052 Flash Memory, Lock Bits and User Fuses The AT 89LP2052 / 89LP4052 microcontroller provide two interfaces with same command format for device programming. The serial ISP Programming interface of the new 2052/4052 microcontroller needs one additional SS Signal for device programming. This SPI signal will be added in the near future to the existing AT89ISP […]
Eagle-eyeing researchers design swooping quadrotors with claws (w/ video)
Posted on: 17 Mar 2013
(Phys.org) —Scientists working on robots often concentrate on how to mimic the shape and movements of animals that show exceptional efficiencies in varied tasks; a recent team accomplishment takes a page out of the study of eagles, in order to create a flying robot that can similarly swoop down and grab objects the way an eagle can fish with its natural claws. Fundamentally, they were after a goal of devices capable of high-speed aerial grasping and manipulation
Batwatch using ATtiny13V microcontroller
Posted on: 17 Mar 2013
Overview Batwatch is a simple monitor for a solar panel battery charger, using an Atmel ATtiny13V. It periodically measures the charge current and battery voltage, and shows them by blinking two LEDs. I built this circuit into the plug of a VW solar charger panel that is used to prevent a discharge of the battery […]

How Wireless Power Works
Posted on: 17 Mar 2013
Inductive Coupling Inductive coupling uses magnetic fields that are a natural part of current’s movement through wire. Any time electrical current moves through a wire, it creates a circular magnetic field around the wire. Bending the wire into a coil amplifies the magnetic field. The more loops the coil makes, the bigger the field will […]
