Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione, one of the largest intellectual property law firms in the U.S., is pleased to announce that Jay H. Reiziss, Danielle Anne Phillip, Scott W. Brim and Heidi A. Dare will become shareholders in January 2011.

Jay H. Reiziss is an international trade attorney in Brinks Washington, D.C., office with experience in the biotechnology, chemical, and computer hardware and software industries. A former International Trade Commission (ITC) employee, Mr. Reiziss’ expertise includes investigations under Section 337, as well as anti-dumping, countervailing duty, and safeguards investigations before the ITC. His practice encompasses all aspects of litigation before the ITC and briefing and arguing matters before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. He also has an active practice in investigations before the U.S. Department of Commerce, the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR), U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the Federal Courts. Mr. Reiziss holds a J.D. from American University and a B.A. from Rutgers University.
Danielle Anne Phillip, a patent, trademark and copyright litigation attorney in Brinks Chicago office, has been practicing with the firm since 2008. Prior to joining Brinks, she was an associate at Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP in New York. Ms. Phillip earned a J.D. cum laude from the University of Michigan Law School in 2001. Before beginning law school, she was a senior research technologist in the Department of Pharmacological and Physiological Sciences at the University of Chicago and worked as a research assistant at the Department of Tropical Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. Ms. Phillip holds an A.B. from Harvard University.
Scott W. Brim, listed as one of Illinois Super Lawyers Rising Stars in 2009, focuses on patent prosecution and client counseling in areas relating to Internet commerce, communication networks, navigation systems and electronic hardware. He also prepares and submits legal documents with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and other foreign offices. Mr. Brim joined Brinks as an associate in 2002 in Chicago and recently transferred to Brinks’ new office in Washington, D.C. Mr. Brim earned his J.D. from the University of Illinois and his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of Dayton.
Heidi A. Dare focuses on patent prosecution and client counseling in the biotech and medical device areas. Prior to joining Brinks as an associate in 2002, she worked on advanced stem cell research and gene therapy as a research associate at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and at the University of Michigan. Ms. Dare earned her J.D. from Wayne State University Law School. She holds an M.S. in microbiology and immunology from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in biology from Albion College.
