During the retransfer printing process, the Datacard SR200 and SR300 use a standard full-color dye film (YMCK) to print an image onto a clear retransfer film in a “reverse image.” The image is then laminated onto the plastic card surface. The printed card is highly durable – protected from scratching and fading by the clear film layer.
Retransfer technology also delivers superior image quality with vivid full-color printing and over-the-edge coverage. Both the SR200 and SR300 can reproduce a wider color gamut than competitive offerings resulting in improved image gradation, tonal reproduction, and image contrast.
These new Datacard retransfer printers offer optimum flexibility in regard to card material choices and card output types. Both reproduce high-quality images on PVC, ABS, PET, PET-G, and polycarbonate card materials. The SP300 is capable of producing a wide range of card types – from standard ID cards to access control badges with uneven surfaces, such smart cards and proximity cards.
For organizations with higher-security needs, the double-sided SR300 Datacard retransfer ID printer is available with optional smart card and ISO magnetic encoding modules. The SR300 prints up to the edge of the smart chip or directly over embedded chips and it quickly encodes magnetic stripes onto any type of plastic card. Both encoders are factory-installed and must be included in the ordering process.
Either Datacard retransfer printer – the single-sided SR200 retransfer card printer or the double-sided SR300 – can be ordered with an optional laminator, which can apply Datacard topcoats or Datacard DuraGard laminates to help extend card life and strengthen card security. An optional bend remedy chip helps produce flat cards.
Both Datacard models offer fast print speeds – printing a four-color, one-sided card in 30 seconds along with a compact design that saves desktop space.
