Norfolk Set for Biggest Motorsport Event this Weekend as Snetterton Hosts High-Speed Mce British Superbike Thrills

(PRWEB UK) 26 May 2012

Tens of thousands of spectators will descend on the super-fast Snetterton 300 circuit near Norwich to witness some of the world’s best riders competing for one of the most sought-after titles in racing, as the riders wrestle for positions at top speeds of nearly 200mph.

MCE BSB has already delivered some sensational racing this season as the opening six races of the season have produced six different winners from six different teams. The championship features new technical regulations in 2012 with expensive electronic aids such as traction control now banned. This has created an even bigger spectacle and a level playing field that has given new teams and riders the chance to shine.

Defending champion Tommy Hill currently heads the standings for the Swan Yamaha team and he scored a podium at the circuit last year. Just six points separate him from Australias Josh Brookes, whilst double champion Shane Shakey Byrne is also closing in on the Rapid Solicitors Kawasaki. You cant discount other 2012 race winners including Ian Lowry and fans favourite Chris Stalker Walker, whilst former World Superbike sensation Noriyuki Haga makes his race debut at the circuit.

Local contenders bidding for success at the Norfolk circuit include Cambridges Luke Mossey and Norwich racer Matt Layt in the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, whilst Kings Lynns Freddy Pett lines up in the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 Championship and Norwich contender Jake Newstead in the Superstock 600 class.

Last year Snetterton was completely transformed following a multi-million pound investment from owners MSV. The creation of a new infield section lengthened the track to three miles and led to a number of new overtaking opportunities and thrilling racing, whilst a number of elevated spectator banks were constructed. The team have continued to make improvements ahead of this weekends event including a second raised tier on the Montreal Hairpin viewing bank, additional car and bike parking and improved pedestrian access.

In addition to the MCE BSB races there will be racing from the Motorpoint British Supersport Championship, the Metzeler National Superstock 1000 and 600 Championships, the Monster Energy Motostar Championship and the one make Triumph Triple Challenge and Ducati 848 Challenge plus the entertaining spectacle of the Eastern Airways British Sidecars. Fans can meet the riders during a free of charge pit walk on Sunday raceday.
