TRIMSPA® Helps Support “Buddy Walk” 2004

To Benefit Roxbury Parents for Exceptional Children and the National Down Syndrome Society

Cedar Knolls, NJ, September 21, 2004— In coordination with the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS), join the Roxbury Parents for Exceptional Children, Inc. for the 7th Annual “Buddy Walk” on Sunday, October 3 (rain or shine) from 11:30AM – 4:30PM at the Horseshoe Lake Complex in Succasunna, NJ.

All event proceeds benefit programs offered to children with special needs and their families in Roxbury and other surrounding communities; a portion of the proceeds go to the NDSS. Registration begins at 11:30 AM and the 1.3 mile walk will start at approximately 12:30 PM.

“The main focus of our organization is to help and continue to promote information and advocacy efforts that provide funding for recreational programs to children with special needs, as well as help integrate the community,” explains Lauren Hirtes, member of the Roxbury Parents for Exceptional Children (PEC) and wife of TRIMSPA CKO Phil Hirtes. PEC, a non-profit volunteer parent organization, is dedicated to enhancing the lives of children with special needs through social, educational, and recreational programs.

Hirtes, who works for SPAN (Statewide Parent Advocacy Network) and is well versed in the healthy development and educational rights of children, became involved with the Roxbury PEC about a year and a half ago after moving to Roxbury. Lauren and Phil Hirtes, who have a daughter with special needs, recognize PEC as being one of the few places that they can go for support.

The day will be jam-packed with plenty of food, refreshments, and fun and exciting family entertainment such as train rides, bouncy boxing, and a 50/50 raffle. Enjoy KTU’s Goumba Johnny and live entertainment by the rock-and-roll band, “Night Shift.” All participants will have an opportunity to walk away with some great giveaways, such as: TRIMSPA David Stremme autographed T-shirts, theatre tickets, bikes, electronics, and amusement park tickets. In addition, you will receive a Buddy Walk t-shirt for every $ 50.00 you donate to the organization. All give-aways have been donated by local businesses who support their community and this noble cause.
