VueMetrix Introduces the Vue-MV-40 Laser Diode Controller – DiodeGuard Protection Now Available for High-power Fiber Applications

VueMetrix Inc. today announced the release of the Vue-MV-40 laser diode controller with DiodeGuard. The high-power, low-noise controller is ideal for applications that use 15-20 discrete diodes operated in series including fiber lasers and amplifiers, materials processing, and medical systems. The latest addition to the Vue Series of laser diode controllers includes DiodeGuard, VueMetrix’s proprietary laser diode protection circuitry. The Vue-MV-40 is available in 40V, 10A and 27V, 15A configurations.

 

“The enhanced performance of the Vue-MV-40 gives our customers the flexibility to operate more diodes in series than was possible with earlier VueMetrix controllers,” said Eric Smoker, VueMetrix vice president for marketing and sales. He continued, “In addition, DiodeGuard’s unique circuitry and firmware significantly reduce the risk of complete system or cascade failure caused by a short circuit or an intermittent connection occurring in a string of diodes that are operated in series.”

 

The Vue-MV-40 incorporates all required diode and user safety features plus temperature and fault monitoring for laser system control. In addition it comes standard with WinVue user interface software. This gives system designers and integrators the ability to accelerate product development by allowing them to use the same laser diode control electronics from prototype to production. Faster time-to-market, reduced BOM, and improved reliability lower the overall cost of ownership.

 

Based on the VueMetrix platform design, the Vue-MV-40 offers user settable power, current and operating temperature limits. It can be operated via RS-232, USB or analog inputs in either CW or pulsed mode. The Vue-MV-40 is available in both embeddable OEM and stand-alone configurations.

 

The Vue-MV-40 is the latest addition to the VueMetrix portfolio of laser diode control systems, subsystems and software. VueMetrix’s products address the needs of a variety of industrial, commercial and research markets and include laser diode-pumped solid state laser controllers with multiple TEC drivers; multi-channel laser diode, high current laser diode and TEC controllers; high compliance voltage controllers for laser diode bars and stacks.

 

VueMetrix will debut the Vue-MV-40 laser diode controller with DiodeGuard at Photonics West, January 22-24, 2008 in San Jose, CA. VueMetrix will be in booth 6111, South Hall, at the San Jose Convention Center.
