Awarded by the American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), the certification is given to only the industry’s top security design professionals. To achieve this designation, Stevens was required to demonstrate a wide-breadth of security design knowledge and possess at least nine years of practical experience in addition to passing a rigorous exam.

He has designed systems that seamlessly integrate various components on a single digital platform, such as closed-circuit television (CCTV) video storage and transmission, smart card systems, door locking, electronic gates, barriers and bollards, duress systems and intercom systems.

Stevens has provided consultation and designed hi-tech security systems for multi-billion dollar companies as well as military and government facilities, throughout the United States and abroad. With numerous projects designed to date, Stevens has been involved with many notable institutions including Department of State, Washington, D.C.; University of Maryland College; Singapore Embassy; National Science Foundation, Arlington, Va.; Bank of Jamaica; United States Office of Personnel Management, Washington, D.C.; Morgan State University, Baltimore; and the United States Department of Health and Human Services, Washington, D.C.

Stevens received his master’s degree in engineering management

systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y., in 1986, and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Northeastern University, Boston, in 1982. In addition to his most recent certification as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Stevens holds numerous professional registrations including the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) certification for the state of Virginia; and is a certified Construction Document Technologist for the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI CDT). His current memberships include: the American Society of Industrial Security and the Construction Specification Institute.
